[resolved] Invisible admin (9 posts)

I recently reinstalled WP from the ground up, suspecting a hack. I've changed my password and all that jazz. Since I only had a few Users anyway, I went ahead and deleted all the users (except myself "admin", of course).

But now my User list says there's 2 admins, although I only see one (me).

What's the best way to tell if this is just a counting glitch, or if there really is an "invisible admin"? And if there IS an invisible admin, what's the best way to delete it?

Remember, I've already reinstalled WP. I was on version 2.8.4 before the reinstall anyway.

    Ideas?

It isn't a counting glitch. It's leftover from the recent hack. You need to manually remove this invisible admin from your wp_users table.

Using phpMyadmin or whatever database management tools your hosting provider offers.

Sorry can you provide more detail on this? I am not a coder, so if you have the patience, can you walk me through it step by step?

phpMyAdmin is a tool used to manage MySQL databases.

Hey, I think it worked! AT least, I was able to download the tool, install it, browse the user list, and delete the other user who wasn't me.

Is there anything else I need to do at this point to make sure things are secure?

    Thanks!

  8. But now my User list says there's 2 admins, although I only see one (me).

If you haven't already re-upload your WordPress files http://wordpress.org/download/ and check your plugins/themes/etc...

    As always backup everything first.

Hi, may be is to late, but today I find one!!

For this particular blog I can´t access to the PHPMyAdmin so, just copy and paste the url to delete and just change the user ID with the invisible admin ID, transfer the posts and pages to admin and LISTO!.

    http://www.blog.com/wp-admin/users.php?action=delete&user=999&_wpnonce=XXXXXXXXXX

I´m not a genio, but may be for a not programmer like me this might be help :)
