   I get an invalid user name message when I try to log in at wordpress.org. Yet I can access it through my yahoo web hosting. In yahoo, clicking on "add a post" or "edit blog settings" takes me to a wordpress log in page that has the same log in info and I can get in just fine.

   But if I open a new window, go directly to WordPress.org, and enter the exact same user name and password, it says my user name is invalid, even if I'm logged into my blog in another tab.

   It's been like this for a long time on multiple computers. It's only a problem now because I'm changing web hosting and need to log on only through WordPress. I have to be able to move my blog off the yahoo server, but right now I can only access it through yahoo.

   how exactly do you access it through yahoo? and bypass the wordpress log in?

   You won't be able to log into your blog from wordpress.org.
   Try this:
   Go to YOURBLOG.com/wp-admin/
   and sign in with your username and password.
   If it works there, it will work pretty much the same way when you shift your blog to a new host.

   Ahh! That worked! That's so simple, yet I would never have guessed to do that. Thank you for eradicating this headache! I was on the verge of scrapping the blog altogether.
