• I’ve had a few clients using Safari or Firefox that cannot send their forms because the form always says “invalid date format.” This happens even when they type in the date mm/dd/yyyy just like it appears on Google Chrome.

I wish I could include a screenshot here, but check out http://www.rodgerobley.com/wedding-info on chrome, then on safari or firefox, and you’ll see what I mean. If you want to send a fake form on both browsers, I’m cool with that too.

    Thanks,
    Rodger

  • I planned to test your form but gave up as soon as I saw how many required fields you have. The chances of me filling in that form without getting a validation error is going to be next to zero. I use at maximum 2 required fields in any CF7 form – other fields optional.

Nevertheless to try to solve your “invalid date format” problem, I suggest you create another form with only the relevant problem field/s and test the problem in a number of browsers.

Also good idea to include some very obvious guidance on allowable date format – this is likely to be a frequent user error.

Refer also http://contactform7.com/date-field//. The new CF7 date tag is a HTML5 date input type which currently has only limited cross-browser support. See http://www.wufoo.com/html5/types/4-date.html for the low down on this new HTML5 form element.
