After some recent changes to my server, I was unable to upload an image for a post. I discovered I had to enable Write access to the upload folder for Internet Guest Account. This seems like a bad idea. Does anybody know what is going on here? Thanks.
PS. Those "recent changes" alluded to above were the installation of a VPN on the server. Not sure why this should have had any effect.
Hi,
It seems that your blog is hosted on windows server so to upload the images/photoes and video you will have to assign proper permissions to the wp-contents folder and add IUSER for the upload folder only...
Thanks,

Will do. The hosting folks think this is possibly a "bad idea" but everybody says this is the way to go so I'm doin' it. I agree it limits potential trouble to the upload folder ony.
Thanks.
It may be a "bad idea", but since you're running as an unauthenticated account, you get the internet user permissions. And then you want to upload a file, so you're pretty much limited to this sort of thing. Gotta have write permissions to, you know, write a file. :)
