I hope you can help me!

I've been using wordpress for my site for a while, and love it. I love wordpress as its so easy!

Stupidy I never checked all browsers and now have been informed IE doesn't like my site! I use Safari on the mac and Chrome on the PC and the site looks well. But on IE its all over the place! Although some people on IE have told me its just the main image on the Home page and Find Us pages they can't see. But some others its a total mess and can't see anything!

I am panicking now as my new studio opens in less than 2 weeks and am currently doing lots of marketing and need the site to work!!!

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be hugely grateful!!

I have just checked the errors and there are loads! But I'm not sure which ones to fix! They seem to be all to do with the socila networking links (which I don't like anyway, but can't find where to get rid of them!)

Thank you in advance for any help!

    My website is http://www.julielowephotography.co.uk

I've been chcking through some old post which are similar. Most point to copy & pasting using MS Word. I don't have MS Word, so it can't be that!

Any ideas anyone? I'll keep checking old posts..

  3. Validate your HTML and CSS:

It's probably just that IE's picky.

    Thanks Ipstenu.

I've done the validator - tons of errors, but silly little ones, can IE be THAT picky!!! Do I have to fix every single error??

I've been trying to work it out logically and can only think that there can't much wrong with the code as it works fine in Safari, Chrome, Firefox - just not IE. So is there something silly wordpress adds to the code that IE doesn't like?? Maybe?

    It's driving me nuts!! :)

    yes, IE is that picky.

Simple things like mismatched/unclosed tags can wreak havoc.

Best thing to do, is validate your website with plugins all deactivated (some plugins throw errors yu probably aren't likely to fix on your own)

Get your theme valid....and go from there. Chances are it's the errors. 90% of the issues I see are from mismatched tags and whatnot. If getting your theme valid still doesn't fix your issues you may then need a conditional CSS stylesheet for IE

Just this week I've seen 3 sites missing a closing or improperly typed </a> that jacked things up pretty bad.....

    Thanks RVoodoo

I've just figured the image problem. That was a corrupt file - although the iages could be seen in chrome etc, IE didn't want to read it as it wasn't saved properly!! Resaved teh image correctly, re-uploaded and its now on the home page! (well on my version of IE it is!)

OK, will go and look at the pther errors now, Can't understand why some versions of IE don't show the navigation buttons and put the links on the right on the the bottom of the page.

the site is working fine now on some versions of IE. Not sure which ones tho! I know its NOT on IE6

    Thanks again

  7. You can ignore the unencoded ampersand errors (for now, or forever), which are most of your errors, but missing closing tags and incorrecty nested xhtml will effect IE. [Invalid]Markup Validation of julielowephotography.co.uk - W3C Markup Validator. Scroll down in the valdiation report to see line numbers and source code.

Try something like IETester / Browser Compatibility Check for Internet Explorer Versions from 5.5 to 8 on Windows to test versions of IE.
