Internal Server Errors (9 posts)

    Hello All,

I am getting the Internal Server Error in two places - when I go to Media and select upload new media, and when I go to Settings and select Permalink.

I have read many other posts and tried many solutions to no avail.

I have increased the memory limit in php.ini, I have deleted and recreated my .htaccess,
    I have reinstalled (several times).

I'd really appreciate any advice on how to resolve this vexing problem.

    Thanks in advance...

Have you also checked that you have the right file permissions? The pages that you mention have one thing in common, it will access a file or folder on the server.

    Thanks Knut,

I've confirmed that all the files are set to 644 and all the folders to 755

    I believe that's correct?

Further to this I have re-checked and should add that the uploads file is set to 777 - I have seen reference to that being an issue for some folks.

I really would appreciate some advice on this.

    Thanks

One other point - I have multiple WP sites with the same hosting company - presumably on the same server configuration - but this problem is only occurring on one site, suggesting to me it's a WordPress problem rather than a server configuration issue?

Not necessarily. For example, I have about 6 WP sites of my own with the same host but they're on 3 different servers. So this could be a server specific issue. Have you tried checking your site's error logs?

Fair point - I've got a request in with the host company to get the error logs - and will post anything of not.

Is there somewhere (either ftp or cPanel) that I should be able to access the logs myself?

    Thanks

That depends on the host. Some offer access to error logs via cPanel.

    Thanks Esmi,

I'll check it out and post back any updates.
