Intermittent Login Problems with Local Mac WP Installation(s) (4 posts)

    Hello all,

So I seem to be having intermittent problems with my local wordpress installation (s) running on Mac/MAMP. Yes I have multiple installations because when one starts to stop working (I get a blank page on loading the site or login and/or both) I have just make a new install. This is getting tiring after a while as you can surmise. I am about to go on my 5th installation just so I can get back to work. I end up having to copy the content files between eeach install which is a pain as well.

In any case, the only solutions I have been able to find is to make sure my browsers can accept cookies (they always could) and to clear browser browser/cookie history and restart. This doesnt seem to work. Sometimes returning to a previous installation (wordpress 1) might work for a while then it will also quit. This happens no matter which browsers I'm using (Safari, Firefox and/or Chrome). There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. My local installation just doesnt' like me.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks much in advance.

Try restarting apache on the command line:

    sudo apachectl graceful

or look for a restart apache command in MAMP.

I never did try this because I wasnt sure how to do this.

I still get blank white pages after working with one of my themes on my local install of MAMP. All attempts thereafter to even view pages or login lead to a blank white page.

    Please note the following
    1) Restarting MAMP has no effect.
    2) I deleted my local cookies.
    3) I have no plugins installed whatsoever
    4) I am playing with a thesis theme and doing it as safely as possible.
    5) Using the latest version of wordpress
    6) My browsers and operating system are the latest

If anyone knows what might be wrong please let me know. Thank you.
