• I installed wordpress this morning using fantastico, onto a site that is used for ecommerce. After installing it, I cannot get the blog to show up, all that I am seeing is the list of files within the install, for some reason I think it is an error in the .htaccess files, it is not directing the user to the index.php page. I’m thinking the problem might lie with my other .htaccess files. There is an .htaccess file at the root of my server which directs users that go to my HOMEPAGE, to view the catalog/index.php page as that is where my homepage file is located. My blog is installed in root/blog. Does anyone know how to reconcile these two issues? Any other ideas as to why this might be happening?

    Thank you!!

  • If you are just seeing a directory of the wordpress files, perhaps your server isn’t configured to automatically show all index files.

Test: What happens when you go to the index.php file? Do you see the blog? If yes, you can fix this with the DirectoryIndex htaccess directive….
    ie.
    DirectoryIndex index.html index.php

If that is not the problem, there could be something wrong with your WordPress installation.

It might be helpful if you give the url of the location of your wordpress installation.
