I am evaluating WordPress to integrate with a large web site with 200,000 to 1 million potential blog users. I have a few questions and am wondering if anyone has any experiences with this kind of integration. I don't have a lot experiences in WordPress, any advices and/or help is much appreciated.
I want to host the solution in our servers. So my questions are
1) since we have a lot of users, so WordPress MU is the one we are targeting, it seems that we will need to write a number of plugins such as login and content filtering. Has anyone done that before and what kind of advices would you give?
2) Does it WordPress MU work with any other data stores such as SQL server, how easy or hard it is switch MySQL to SQL Server?
3) What about scalability, the current WordPress MU doesn't look like it will scale, has anyone had any experiences scaling WordPress MU both at web servers and database servers?
4) Is there a better solution offered by WordPress for large websites?
