Integrated Editor with Syntax Highlighting (1 post)

since the richtext editor caused too much truble I switched it off and use the html editor only - which is how I am used to work anyway. The lack of highlighting, Bracket Checking and the inability to insert tabs however makes editing difficult.

With my old site (non-cms-based) I could edit transparently the file with kwrite (kde, linux) from the ftp server. This allowed me to use autocompletion, syntax highlighting and all the good stuff of modern editors.

Now, is there any way to edit the content on-the-fly with such an editor. My idea was that I have an edit button - my editor pups up - and when I save the file is saved on the server. Or an java/whateverbased-editor that can be used inside the webside to edit the source code more elegantly ?

Would be great if such a thing was possible
