Integrate wordpress login with email list? (5 posts)

I want to create a site that's connected to a weekly email newsletter. Of course I could do that through constant contact or a similar service, but it seems a shame to have two different systems -- one for logging in to WordPress (to comment, etc.) and another for signing up for an email newsletter.

It would be nice to be able to integrate the two, so that membership at the website includes the ability to post comments and receipt of the newsletter.

It would be even nicer to be able to integrate this with a store, so that the same login would control (1) commenting on the WordPress blog, (2) managing subscriptions to email newsletters, and (3) making purchases on an e-store.

Are there any plugins to do this sort of thing?

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks much,

    Greg

You can send newsletters via your domain email system but I don't recommend it because...

    1. Some hosts forbid sending bulk emails such as newsletters.
    2. Its a good way to trigger spam filters and get your domain locked out of some email servers, even if your emails are legitimate. The MSN/Hotmail system is particularly sensitive to this. Google it. They've locked out whole University email systems.

    Thanks for that advice.

Does anybody know of a safe email program that can integrate with the WordPress login/registration?

I don't know one that completely integrates with WP but this one adds a Constant contact signup form. Its not hard to export WP user and import them into Constant Contact though. I know some very non-technical-- one might say anti-technical-- people who do it all the time.
