I followed the instructions closely and got all the way to where I installed and got my log in name and password.. now when I go to my 'blog' all I get is a directory of the files. I know it must be something really easy to fix.. just can't figure it out.
So close! Yet so far..

Did you install WP into a sub directory or in the root?
What it sounds like is that you've installed into a sub-directory and when you go to your site there is not an index page--hence, the reason for a list of files.

Another possibility is that index.php is not set as an index file - you'll need to ask your host to check that.

Thank you - when I click the index.php file in the directory it does go to WP. I'm not sure how to make it so it goes automatically, but I'll work on it.

ok I take it back... now whenever I go to make a comment, click on categories or navigate anywhere else, I get the file list. argh!
If it helps, I loaded the info into a subdirectory, because the blog is not the main site, but is part of the site.

You need to get your host to make sure the default index file is set to index.php
