   Please put in an option to "upload a background" or point to one instead of having to edit the CSS for that?

   That would be convenient, but it's not really practical. Unfortunately, not all themes display their background images (if present at all) in the same size or manner. Unless the theme itself features an options page that allows the user to change the background image, you're pretty much going to be stuck manually editing the theme to suit your taste.
