I have reached the point in the installation process where I am supposed to open install.php in the browser. When I attempt to do this, it hangs up and will not open. I tried this on three different computers at home and had my husband try it on his computer at work.

The techs at my web hosting service say they can open it just fine and it must be my Internet connection speed. However, we have broadband and recently upgraded to an 11G router. Most pages open just fine, including pages on the site where I am attempting to install the blog.

I am having much the same problem. The error message I get is The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. --- Does that mean that the install.php file has a bad header?

    annapeer,
try always a search for the error message you receive:

What about the problem I originally posted? I didn't get an error message.

It is difficult to guess when not seeing it and no error messages displayed.

I just looked on a different thread about this same problem and followed these directions:
Delete wordpress 2.3.2 and install 2.3.1
This fixes my problem concerning the bad header. This might work for shirley (at least I hope so).

My web hosting provider moved my site to a server with a newer version of Windows, and that solved the problem. It took them a while before they decided that was the problem, but it worked.
