installing WP *with changing text blog snippets* on front page of html site

Hi. I have an html site and want to create a link to a WP blog. I have no problem with creating a new page and linking from the menu to something like mainsitedomain.com/blog. My question is this: is there any conceivable way that anyone knows how to create changing blog snippets (like first few sentences of blog, last 3 entries) or some form of changing text related to blog on html home page? Please help if you can think of any way of doing this!! I don’t want to redesign the site. We are happy with the site, just really want some changing text on front page of site.
