    Hey guys,
I'm trying to install wordpress on my allocation of a university server.I have the files uploaded to the server and i can run the install.php from Firefox. But I don't know exactly what to enter on the credentials page.
    First, the wordpress database:
My only way to interact with the server is command line (puTTy) or through SSH Secure File Transfer (no cpanel/phpmyadmin that i can find). So i contacted the university support about setup and they said the only support they can give is for the MYSQL database. They created one for me on a different server and gave me the credentials. Without a website manager, how do i make the wordpress database?
I assume the Username and Password for the MYSQL stuff is what was provided to me.
WHat is the hostname? Does that refer to the hostname of the MYSQL database, or the wordpress database?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

For the hostname, please ask your university support. Hostname refers to the name of the server on which the MySQL database has been created. It basically gives the address to which the WP install needs to connect to.

Looks like the university's support staff has already done it for you. WordPress will create the database tables it needs during the install process.
