    Hi

I want my blog to be on my main url rather than in a directory e.g

    http://www.socialmediaadvisor.co.uk not
    http://www.socialmediaadvisor.co.uk/blog/

I'm terrified of moving the files and not clear on wordpress instructions about defining the wordpress address and site address (url). Last time i did this i lost my blog and database was corrupted losing 8 months of blog posts. i simply want to install wordpress as a cms on my main domain name. My very basic questions are...

    Do i

    a) move the files to the root directory in public-html
    b) create a new wordpress install in root directory and delete /blog directory
    c) what do i put in general settings as url addresses so that site links to main url?

Also....Do i have to delete any other files in root domain path e.g old website files created with Dreamweaver so that this work. I'm just a little nervous of doing anything in case it all goes haywire.

Hope someone can help or point me in direction of good tutorials/videos in plain english preferably without ref to ht.access configuration as i an definately not a coder:-) but wish i had that kinda brain - much respect.

Carefully follow the instructions on "Moving WordPress Within your Site":

Of course, make a full backup of your database and files beforehand, just in case :)
