The following errors were found :
Installation cannot proceed because the following files already exist in the target folder :
index.php
.htaccess
Please delete these files or choose another folder.OR
Select the checkbox to overwrite all files and continue
I don't want to delete any of the Joomla stuff yet - as I said I hope to migrate it. what to do? Help please! Thanks :)
Install WordPress into a subfolder.

So not via Softaculous at all? Thanks. I really need these things explained to me step-by-step as I am not a tecchy.
This looks like a reasonable explanation?

I am trying to install WP into the root as we speak. I think the poster above means 'folder' when he says 'file' in the first steps though...
If I follow this do you think I'll get there? Thanks!
Yes he means folder when he said file.
The idea is to install WordPress in a subfolder so you can take your time setting it up. When you're ready to switch over then move it to the root folder. You can either move it complete, or follow the instructions at the Codex page below.
