Installing translation for theme? (3 posts)

    Hi,
I managed to get the main WordPress interface localised in my language (create .mo file, place in wp-includes/languages, enable in wp-config.php).

However, I am at a loss to what to do for the themes.
I know that the default theme is not internationalised.
I use Green Marinee (http://www.alexking.org/software/wordpress/themes/blog/) that is internationalised (I can see the __() and _e() constructs).

However I do not know where to place the .mo file for the theme.

Where shall I put the .mo file for the theme? Is there a specific directory, or should it be merged (ugly) with the main .mo file?

    Thanks moshu!

It is a pitty that the default themes of WordPerss do not offer the internationalisation described in the link you mention.

I found that the modified themes from
    http://www.wordpress-it.it/temi-italiani
work really well and as advertised. You have to put the .mo file in the same folder as the theme and WordPress will pick it up automatically (assuming you setup WPLANG already).

I use the modified Almost Spring, by Becca.
