• Hi I am not an wordpress expert (nor computer expert) and would appreciate if anyone can help me with this problem:

I have paid someone to design a wordpress-based website and my designer is ready to upload the THEME FILEs to my host’s server. I have created an FTP account so he can upload all the files via FTP. I didn’t want to give out my cpanel login info so I created a database with user/password so he can have access to this database.

My question is- does he really need access to CPANEL in order to setup and test the site? I also heard that you can also create database through FTP (and basically he has access to my host account and everything). Is it necessary for me to give out my CPANEL login info?

    Please help. Thanks.

  • if u have a wordpress installation then no need to give all that

he can just send u the files and u upload them to

    wp-content/themes/themename

in that folder … if ur theme got style.css, index.php and i think functions.php (all required) then wordpress will find it

all u do then activate the theme … then u can give only the wordpress admin login and ur designer works on that … then u change ur password so he doesnt have access

if u trust the designer … i dont see a problem with giving him/her ur ftp but not the cpanel
