Installing Stats Plug-in brings my dashboard to a halt (3 posts)

About 48 hours ago I started having problems with getting into my dashboard as the system would respond very slowly. I checked with my server provider and having run some utilities it has become apparent that the issue is with one of the plug-ins on my site. I disabled the JetPack plug-in and the system started running smoothly again. As I am keen to get stats on my site I have installed the wordpress.com stats plug-in, after which the same issues persisted.

I am now unable to get stats and am keen to undersand why is it that instaling a stats plug-in brings my dashboard down.

    Any ideas will be appreciated.

Seems a number of users are having the same issue including myself. I've contacted my hosting company as it worked just fine until recently and they can't seem to find any reason it wouldn't be working. It's working fine on sites I have hosted elsewhere. I've tried getting a new API key and it doesn't resolve the issue.

Seems the issue needs to be brought to Automattic as while Akismet provides the API key they have told my hosting company that they do not develop the plugin and do not support it.

OK, this confirms what I suspected. Have had same problem past two days. Host provider says site is fine but the Stats function is killing my dashboard and is unusable. I guess I will remove the plugin for now.
