Installing on a Mac running MAMP

    Hi,

    I want to install WordPress locally on my Mac (Intel Macbook running OS X 10.4.11). I’ve installed MAMP, which seems to be running OK. However, when I open /wp-admin/install.php in Safari, it displays as a text file.

    I understand that this is probably a MAMP issue, rather than WordPress, but all help is gratefully received.

    Fixed it.

    I can’t believe that I spent so long on this, then fixed it so quickly after posting this message!

    Just in case anyone else has a similar problem, it was down to the way I was trying to use MAMP. I was entering the IP address given to me by “Personal Web Sharing” in the OS X Control Panel. I should have been using http://localhost:8888/instead
