you keep it as a zip. Install it through your admin panel by going to plugins->add new
Or, you can skip downloading plugins to your computer and simply search for them on the plugins->add new admin panel, and install them directly to your site

Hi and thanks for getting back to me. I went to plugins, add new and still don’t see how I can install the zip file on my desktop. I also searched for google analytics at plugins, add new and 13 pages of options appeared. I installed the first one, Google Analytics version 1.0.2 and it still didn’t work. When I click on the details for this plugin I see a message that says: Warning this plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress. I also see it has not been updated in quite some time.
When I do this search again at plugins, add new, is there a specific one you recommend that I install? Thanks again.
To upload a zip, go to example.com/wp-admin/plugin-install.php?tab=upload

I have the plugin you recommended sitting in a zip file on my desktop. I just don’t know how to install it.
And when I go to the link you suggested to upload a zip – example.com/wp-admin/plugin-install.php?tab=upload it redirects me to iana.org/domains/example and really doesn’t help me to install it.
