So we have the company website made by a professional in other state. The lady created the theme herself so I could not edit it until I realized that I have to install wordpress on my computer (download server, MySQL and phpMyAdmin) which I successfully set up but the installation required new user, by creating new user now I can edit the theme layout and everything, but the whole point is to be able and use these functions with existing website.

Question is how do I share/transfer ability to fully edit the themes and keep back ups with the existing webpage? Also I cant export installed themes from WP is there a working plug in? Sorry I am completely new to this

In this case, working in localhost won't really do you any good. You need to have admin privileges on your hosted WordPress account.

Don't edit her theme directly. Make a child theme (search the Codex; it's easy, but you need FTP access) and make your changes there.

Also I cant export installed themes from WP is there a working plug in?

You don't need a plugin. Just use FTP: navigate to your wp-content folder, and then find the themes folder. All your themes are there.
