Hi, I have been trying to install a contact form to http://www.theblogarena.com via my wp-admin. I am using core ftp to upload the files, the same as I did to upload the wp theme I am using. I have tried cforms11 and followed the instructions which seem straight forward, but The plugin never shows up in my admin. I have also tried one of the other plugins with the same result, so I am obviously doing something wrong. I have little understanding of widgets, plugins, tags etc. being a newbie to blogs and personally old in the tooth! Any advice is appreciated in simple words even a blog dummy like me can understand. thanks.

Right click on any of your uploaded files, choose "Properties" or "Permissions". There should be numbers there, set all the Folders to "755" and set all the files (images, phps) to "644".

    That all is called CHMOD.

If your FTP doesn't let you CHMOD your files. Try downloading Filezilla (is free). It has the option to change all the files permissions in a move!

    Hi ShirouJune,
Thanks for the response, have checked all the files and folders and already at 755,
Have changed images to 644 but still not appearing in admin.
I also checked my Askimet folder for reference which I have installed fine and again permissions are as you say.
I am afraid it`s back to the drawing board for me!

Mhh... check there's only one folder like:

    plugins/cforms/all files

    and not like:

    plugins/cforms9.3/cforms/all files

Also, only folders might be CHMODed to 755.
Files JPG, GIF, PHP, TXT, JS, etc, all should be at 644.

If that doesn't help you, I really dunno what else should be... it's very weird that you can't at least see it in the plugin panel... :(

    Good Luck!
