[resolved] Installing and editing themes (6 posts)

I am trying to install a theme that is not in the default directory so I can't just do it with a click of the button. Apparently I need to upload it to the wp-admin/themes directory and then it will be visible for me on the main themes page. But I can't figure out how to upload it.

Secondly, I've chosen a theme with four or five photographs in the header bar across the top with the intention of using my own photographs instead. Is this easy enough to do? Do I just go into the template, find the image links and replace them?

    Any help would be appreciated!

First, you need an ftp client like Filezilla.
    Download - http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=21558
Documentation (please read thoroughly) - http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/documentation/

This hould explain to you how it's done.

Secondly, most themes it's as easy as changing out the header graphic - some a bit more complicated.

No. Themes are uploaded to wp-content/themes/

If you have a wp-admin/themes directory, you didnt upload the files correctly the first time.

Thanks very much - I have Cyberduck so I think that might work. If not, I'll try filezilla.

No need for either as it turns out my hoster provides an FTP service - just didn't know that's what I was looking for. Brilliant - thanks!

Hi folks, What do you do when you can't find wp-content/themes/? I created the subdir /themes in wp. I am using a host and all the other wp files are there, except wp-content/themes/!
