   I have a WP installation in my subdomain blog.mugunthkumar.com
   My website uses iWeb @ http://mugunthkumar.com
   I want to migrate to wordpress and I would like to install WP in the root directory. Can I just install a second installation in root without corrupting my first? I don't want my visitors to see the wordpress site till I'm all done. As of now, the domain redirects to http://mugunthkumar.com/pages/Welcome.html. Will installing WP in the root change this redirection?

   yes

   possibly. it depends on how the redirection is set up. if it does change the redirection, some code changes in .htaccess can correct the problem.
