Themes are generally in folders, yes. They contain many files which are used to “piece together” the theme.
You should be uploading them in: wp/wordpress > wp-content > themes.
You can then go to Appearance on your Dashboard to activate the theme.
Thx.. but I can’t upload them one by one can I? And the select all option is somehow not activated?
1. Where did you get the Theme that you’re trying to install?
2. How are you trying to upload/install this Theme (FTP client, hosting file manager, etc.)?
Just of the site wordpress.org. I am an FTP client. This issue is probably something small but still did not manage to upload a new theme.
The folder that I want to upload is not a .zip folder like in the Lynda.com tutorials is displayed. It’s a folder that unfolds when I choose to upload it. Then I am lost..
If you use an FTP client (like Filezilla) you can just right click and upload the folder itself, without opening up the entire folder and uploading each file one by one.

If you’re wanting to install a Theme hosted on wordpress.org, why even bother with downloading it, and then uploading it?
Instead, just install it directly:
1. In your WP-Admin, go to Dashboard -> Appearance -> Themes
2. Then click the “Install Themes” tab
3. Then search for the Theme you want to install
4. Then select the Theme, and click “Install”
Voila! The Theme is now installed.
I kind of succeeded. Your tip was a good one but sometimes you want to download from the web. I just have to zip the folders. Easy. Now a new problem occurred. After installing HATC team. My site went blank.
