    Hi

New to WordPress and totally confused. I have an existing website but wanted a website for mobiles so I purchased a mobile template that requires wordpress. I installed wordpress in a folder in the root of my main website called mobile_site (www.mydomain.com/mobile_site). I planned to change the .htaccess file to redirect to the mobile_site directory when a mobile is detected.

I ran the wordpress installation script and entered my username, database name host & password which went fine and I was told everything was successful. Then I was presented with a login but when I try to login I get an error saying the file was not found and the url had reverted back to http://www.mydomain.com/wp-login.php where I thought it would be refering to http://www.antonhouse.com/mobile_site/wp-login.php

I am totally confused. Any help appreciated

It sounds like you have the site name wrong in your mobile website setup. Do you know how to look at the database files using phpadmin and see what site url you have in there..

Well I've sorted it out now. Thanks for trying to help. The installation routine had failed because my hosts had not given me create table permissions in the database. There's a day of my life I'll never get back. I hadn't bothered looking at the installation log because the installation script reported that the installation was successful - not a very clever script.
