I have installed the latest download to my domain. After login I get
    "Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache/2.2.8 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at "mydomain".com.au Port 80"

I have tried reinstalling several times and created a new database each time.

I presume I have done something wrong but..... grrr

    Any help would be appreciated

    Cheers,
    Rhys

So the installation worked okay? If so a link to see the site. That error could happen from a bad URL.

Someone wrote that they had found that their .htaccess had 777 permissions, but should be 644. Evidently the server threw fits.

Might also check with your host company to see if they have any input.

Hmm I don't really know what you mean here but an update to my problem follows.

if you go to http://bjaustralia.com.au/wordpress/index.php you can see the site but not if you go to the URL http://bjaustralia.com.au/wordpress/ also none of the in site links work at
a href="http://bjaustralia.com.au/wordpress/index.php">http://bjaustralia.com.au/wordpress/index.php only the outbound links

I even installed an old version 2.5 and the same issue occurs. Any ideas?

Make sure your Blog address URL and WordPress address URL don't have the index.php in them.

    Check your Permalinks.

You aren't redirecting to bjaustralia.com.au/wordpress/index.php are you?

Make sure your .htaccess file isn't the problem -- rename it if necessary to see if that solves the problem.
