I'm running XAMPP on my laptop and have tried NUMEROUS times to install WordPress with no success. It allows me to create a blog title, and add my email address. Then, when I click Step 2, the page acts as if it's installing, but it just sits there and does not take me to the next page. I've checked my log-in and password in XAMPP for MySQL, and I've created the database in phpmyadmin but the page still won't load. I've also uninstalled it, removed the database in phpmyadmin and reinstalled everything. It still does not work.
Also, I can go back and see that there is a page I created in WordPress, but I can't access the back end to do admin stuff.
    Help, PLEASE?

I already have XAMPP installed, running Apache and MySQL. Installing XAMPP Lite won't fix it I don't think, because XAMPP is already running on my machine.

The article also covers setting up WP... thought it might be helpful.
