Installation Troubles - Confusion about 'hostname' (5 posts)

    Hello! I've been trying to install WordPress on my domain FaradayProductions.com, but whenever I try to access the installation page (.../wp-admin/install.php) it tells me that I've likely done something wrong in setting up wp-config, and I'm pretty sure that I messed up on the 'hostname' section.

    What is it I should put in there? Should I give it the exact hosting location of my files? Or literally just the name of my host?

    Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

    Ask your hosts for assistance with the database hostname.

    That's the thing: My father is the host, but we're both just unsure of what format to follow in the actual .php file. Would it literally be something like ftp."ifactory.ho8.com"? (His actual FTP server) Or would it just be more like "ifactory/"?

    It needs to be the MySQL server name.

    @FaradayProductions
    You need to create a SQL database first .
    Go to your control panel and click "MySQL" . And follow the steps to create a SQL database .
    Once you've done that, then you can start the wordpress installation .
