   I have downloaded wp3.0.4 to compu, unzipped, reconfigured sample folder with data base, password info and changed local host with sql2.bravehost.com. (as I learned to do on this forum)

   uploaded files via SFTP dreamweaver

   and get a 404 when I try to run install
   http://navigationknowledge4life.com/wp-admin/install.php.

   been beating my head against the wall for a few days, reading these forums and looking for the little thing I've done incorrectly.
   need help please

   It sounds as if you've simply uploaded the files to a directory other than the domain root folder. You need to doublecheck exactly where you uploaded WordPress to.

   Ftp into your site and check where WordPress has been uploaded to.
