   Hello,

   I'm trying to install word press on my sub-domain. Changed wp_config and uploaded everything, but I get a 404 Not Found when I try to open wp-admin/install.php.

   Any ideas?

   ok, there's where you think it is from the web side.
   What's the directory structure look like on your host?

   Actually I just realized that I have a general problem with my sub-domain.

   This is the path on the server
   ftp://sanguin.de/webseiten/sanguin/brasil/
   but I've put my stuff on
   ftp://sanguin.de/brasil

   I can't see anything on either one. (I am admittedly a greenhorn).

   P.S. even if I just put up brasil.sanguin.de I get a 703 Forbidden

   The forbidden is likely due to not having a "default" document in that directory and directory listing being forbidden. Toss in an index.php or index.html and that probably goes away.

   Most subdomains rely on the dns propagation process as well. Even with the correct files and correct server-path, you may need to wait until the dns resolves.

   HandySolo, that did it. Now I still can't run wp_admin/install. Just wait?

    I'd agree with vkaryl -- give it a few hours or evening to ensure dns has propogated.

    I cleared up the mess I made in my sub-domain and now it works. Thank you for your patience!
