Dear all, I am absolute beginner but I would like to use WordPress to publish my academic resources. I have not really a clue about php etc mysql. Do you think I can install WordPress on my own? Is there somewhere a nice Step-By-Step installation guide?

  2. Are currently hosted by a company that provides PHP and MySQL? If yes, then both are all ready active and all you have to do with them is create a MySQL database (which should be easily done through your host's user interface). If no, then you can't use WordPress and you need to find a hosting company that provides PHP and MySQL. The best installation guide that I know of is this: http://codex.wordpress.org/How_to_Install_WordPress
If your host also provides cPanel access, then you're in luck! There's an even easier installation guide here: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/cpanel/
