• I downloaded WP 2.6.1, unzipped it, made the necessary changes to the wp-config.php file, uploaded everything to my server (Windows Server 2007 I believe which is running recent versions of php and mysql) ran the installer script at my-url-path-here/wp-admin/install.php, entered my blog name and email address in step1, then there was a long pause and the step2 page only partially loaded (when I viewed source the body of the html document was never closed). I verified that the WP tables were in fact created in my mysql database, however there was no data in any of the tables. I’ve never had an issue like this with WP – any ideas or advise is greatly appreciated. New to the forum, thank you in advance.

  • I had the same issue on a 2003 server with wordpress. I found in my firewall log that it was trying to access an SMTP server that didn’t exist. I corrected the smtp server in the php.ini and deleted the tables. It then ran through fine.

    Hope this helps
