[resolved] Installation Issue - can't access install.php (10 posts)

I bought my site from godaddy.com and am hosting on dreamhost. I followed the 5 minute WordPress install instructions and was able (I think) to upload my files with the updated config.php. When I type http://mysitename.com/wp-admin/install.php, I just get a generic godaddy site - I can't access the install. Help!

If you type mysitename.com that probably (just guessing) is not your actual domain name. You are typing YOUR domain name in place of that?
And what directory did you put the files in?

yes - I actually put the site in "mysitename". I put the files in the main directory - /myedgemont.com (which is the site).

    Thanks

    Hi there

If you have an index.html in your root folder then you have to delete that file?

Sometimes when you have both index.html and index.php file in the same directory, it won't execute the index.php file for wordpress.

    Try it.
    CHEERS :)

if you are hosted at dreamhost and getting a godaddy page I would guess you haven't set dreamhost's DNS on the godaddy name server

Thanks for the feedback. I'll deleted the index.html.

How do I set dreamhost's DNS on the godaddy name server?
