• For starters, I’m a WP and blog beginner. That said here’s what I’m trying to do. I have an existing website (www.xyz.com, for example)running on a Windows 2003 webserver with IIS 6. I would like to add a weblog as a page within this site. I downloaded and unzipped the latest version of WP as a subdirectory of the websites main directory. I also downloaded and installed MySQL in a directory of its own on the same drive. I took a stab at setting the wp-config.php file and then tried the install. No luck. Is there a simple reference anywhere that will walk a beginner through the steps for getting WP up and running, maybe with some samples of how the configuration file should look and where the various files need to reside? And, does the install, when it runs correctly, create the MySQL file, or does that need to be done beforehand? And, if so, what’s involved in that?
