I am new to WordPress and I believe that all of the info I put into the wp-config file is correct, but when I actually upload everything and then go to the install.php file, I get a bunch of gibberish. All of the php tags and code are showing up and the page tells me that the wp-config file is not there and that the program is already installed. My server has the proper PHP and MySQL support so I am a bit confused. Even if the host name shouldnt be 'localhost'the page should load normally and let me know there is an error, right?I have been at this since yesterday. Please Help!!

    Thanks

How are you "going" to your install.php file?

through a web browser, right? (like http://yourdomain.com/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php)

Assuming that's the case, you need to check with your host to make sure that index.php is a viable option for your index file.

And are you on a windows server instead of a linux one?

No actually I am on a Linux server. Also I am accessing the install.php file by using my web browser. As far as I know index.php is fine to use as a name for the index file.

    Thanks

Okay, are you absolutely positive that the info in your wp-config.php file is correct?

Yup.I was able to verify username and password and that Myhosting.com uses localhost . I am in the process of starting from scratch. I downloaded the zip file again edited the wp-config file. Now I amm uploading the files to the server and I will try again.
