   I am about to install wordpress on several sites all based on the same web server. I want to be able to share the bloggs across all sites.

   Do I need a full wordpress install on each site or is there a simpler way

   Hi Brian,

   What do you mean by "I want to be able to share the bloggs across all sites" ?

   Are you referring to accessing all your blogs dashboard from one single login?

   You can consider WordPress Multisite with Domain Mapping and run all your blogs under one WordPress installation with one login.
