I followed these great directions (you know, the 5 min one's...) :
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress#Step_3:_Set_up_wp-config.php

and and installed WP on the root directory of my site. After (5 min and 4 hours - my first time using a DB, excuses..excuses..) I was finally able to get to this screen (YES!):
    http://www.myblueshoes.com/wp-admin/install.php

But (sadly...), when I continued to the next page and entered my weblog Title/email address, even though I was able to get a WP login an PW,
it showed a long page full of repeating error messages like these (here's where it get's ugly...):
    ________________________________________________________
Warning: preg_match() expects parameter 2 to be string, array given in /home/mbs/public_html/wp-admin/upgrade-functions.php on line 336

WordPress database error: [Table 'mbs_mbsbloggerDB.wp_options' doesn't exist]
    SELECT option_name FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = 'siteurl'
    _______________________________________________________

Hmmmm.....And since I tried this several times, I have generated several passwords also.

but no matter at this point - one problem at a time -as the
    Login address (link)
    wp-login.php
    only gives me this:
    http://www.myblueshoes.com/wp-login.php

(Also it seems that the WP files I placed on the root directory of my site have knocked out my (index.htm) website. )

What to do? should I not have placed the WP files on the same directory level as a html website?
can anyone let me know why I cannot login to the admin area and get this puppy going
    What's wrong with this picture?
(Sorry I cannot be more technical about the situation...)

    but

    No, LINUX OS
    Apache V1.3.33 (Unix)
    MYSQL V4.0.22
    PHP V4.3.10

    For step 7 here,
    http://www.myblueshoes.com/blog/readme.html
the install script does send me the login page. But upon entering step 1 of login (blog name and email address) the following page contains repeated errors like this (note Table '*.wp_options' DOES NOT EXIST MESSAGE):

WordPress database error: [Table 'mbs_mbsbloggerDB.wp_options' doesn't exist]
    SELECT option_name FROM wp_options WHERE option_name = ....

Also when pointing my browser to
    /wp-admin/upgrade.php
    this message comes up:
    http://www.myblueshoes.com/blog/wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Any ideas?
