[resolved] Install Script hanging at record additions... (4 posts)

    Hello :)

I used to just write my blog posts in HTML... but that got boring fast, so I looked for wordpress.

I got to step two, and while it says that it's creating tables and adding default values, nothing is happening.

Looking at the database, I can see that it hangs around 60-80 records...

I originally thought it was a script execution timeout, but I upped it to 60 seconds, with no change.

Mm... my server might be a little too outdated... AMD K6-2...

Does your server meet the requirements?

    Hello, MichaelH!

Yes, I do believe I meet the hardware requirements...
    My PHP Version: 5.2.0
    My mySQL version: 5.0.27

However, I can't turn mod_rewrite on, since it seems to break style.css in my mediawiki installation.

    Oy, I'll give it a try :)
    Thanks for your help!

    Update:
Hello again, I did as you suggested, and uncommented the mod_rewrite plugin, restarted apache, and tried again.

The same problem remains, unfortunately :(

Would it be possible to install wordpress on another (faster) machine, then copy all of the records over to the slower machine? Or is this a sign that my server is too old? :)

My bad, my wordpress version is 2.1.2.

Just an update on my situation...

Ended up not being able to install it on the old AMD K6-2... so I ended up creating a mock server on a faster machine, installed wordpress, then copied the install dir and SQL tables to the slower machine. All's well now.

    Just some fun information...
My AMD K6-2 running Windows XP = Fail
My friend's AMD K6-2+ running Mandriva = Pass

    Speed difference...!
