Install fails every time...? (5 posts)

I've tried several times to install WordPress 3.4.2 on my server:
    1and1 Linux Hosting / PHP5 /MySQL5

Both automatic install and install with config.php edited to my database settings fail with error messages about wp-includes/comment.php.
The exact message/php line varies - I've uninstalled it again from the webserver, but I can reproduce the failure every time.

As I've installed php forums, textpattern and even an earlier version of WordPress without problems before, I'm just wondering if I'm doing something really stupid and skipped something blindingly obvious?

I've downloaded WordPress three times, and deleted/re-uploaded files each time, checking file permissions etc., so I don't think it can be corrupted files.

    Any help much appreciated>

Which web host are you using?

It installs easily on dreamhost. Watch it here http://wp.me/p2Q1U1-1Q

Thanks for the replies - even the obvious one about how to install WordPress.... ;-)

What's the exact error message? Could you provide with the screenshot?

As I mentioned above, it threw up different errors regarding comment.php, but with a different line number each time.

The problem turned out to be with the 1and1 webserver and its php installation, which has now been sorted by 1and1 and WordPress now works as expected.

    Thanks
