Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Install Config. for "Newbies"

  • Ok.

    newbie here.

I have a fairly new wordpress site that I am using for blogging and just installed the “wordpress SEO” plugin, which looks like it will really help to focus my posts and improve my “SEO” writing ability.

However, there are a LOT of options in the set-up and config. pages that I honestly have no idea what they do and are WAY over my technical level.

For example, I just looked at the “titles and meta” set-up page, and there(honestly) isn’t a single thing in there that I understand at all.

Am I ok to just not touch any of this stuff at all and use it all ‘out of the box’, or is there (maybe?) a “WordPress SEO for Dummies” video somewhere that explains in lots of little words what all this stuff does.

Or, is there a way to get someone to go through all the settings/config. and figure out what they should be for my little blog?

I’m really a blogger, with just enough “know how” to get some basic stuff installed and configured, but what I see here in the set-up is pretty much out of my knowledge realm, and I don’t want to “hurt” my site which needs all the “ooophh” it can get.

    Thanks in advance for ideas/advice.

    Regards,

    Michael

  • If you Google “how to set up Yoast SEO” you will find lots of good blog posts and YouTube videos to use as guides.

    This blog post looked good.

    Stacy,
Thanks for the link. It’s a good post that explains a lot. I still have some questions, but am a bit “closer” then I was. I will also look on Youtube for some videos as well.. Should have thought of that.

One question… I have seen a lot of mentions of “Keyword Winner”.. a premium plugin that helps you select keywords. Anyone know if this would work together with WordPress SEO plugin ok? It looks like WordPress SEO has links to some keyword resources, but “Keyword Winner” seems to put keyword searching right into your post creation process, which can be a real time saver.

    Thanks.

Anyone have any experience/comments on”Keyword Winner” premium plug-in vs. what is available in Google Keywords Tool?
    Thanks.
