Inserting user-provided information into database (1 post)

I am building an RSVP plugin (inspired for my friend's wedding). I need to allow a user to RSVP from the front end of the site.

I have everything working from the administration side (viewing, editing, adding, etc.) and I can generate the form on a front-end page automatically if you create a post that is simply "rsvp".

My problem is that now I don't know where to point the form action to in order to save the entered information into the database - if I point it to a parse file in the plugin folder, it returns the following error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function escape() on a non-object

I'm sure the answer is right in front of my face but for some reason I can't find this anywhere and it's really getting me down.

    Thanks!
