Inserting PDF into Button Short code

Hey I’m new to the ShortCode plug-in but I wanted to know if anyone knew how to embed a pdf into the button shortcode. I’ve tried copying my file url where it initially asks for URL and get nothing so any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
