   Hi, Gang.

   Newbie here working on building my site. I'd really love to be able to format image captions a little and haven't been able to figure out if that's possible.

   1. Would like to have ability to insert a "return" so I can control where the line break happens when text wraps to a second line in captions. Especially useful for not cutting in half the names of folks I'm crediting photos to.

   2. Would love to be able to create links within caption text.

   Can anyone help? Is this even possible with WordPress? I'm working with the Weaver Twenty Ten template.

   This is BAD html, just FYI, but you can do this. (You know that you can caption images, right?)

   WordPress automatically handles paragraphing for you. Just hit ENTER when making posts. It will automatically wrap the paragraphs in P's and so forth.

   If you want a single BR, when using the visual editor, you hit shift-enter instead of enter. Done and done.

   Note that the non-visual editor is slightly different. There one enter = a BR, two = a paragraph break.

   But there's no real case where you should ever have to enter P tags manually. WordPress does not expect you to enter HTML code. It expects you to enter text. Just plain text. It will take care of formatting it. Some HTML is acceptable, like images and em and strong and so on, but there's no reason to put P's and such in manually. It'll do it for you. Let it.

   Thanks, Ipstenu. Yes, I already have captions on the photos, so that part works fine. My problem is that in the photo edit pop-up window where you can type/input your caption, there appears to be no way to do any formatting. In that "caption" box, hitting enter, or shift-enter doesn't work to get a line break. I'm not having any issues getting line breaks/paragraph ends where I want them in the main text of the pages and posts; just in the photo captions.

   Great tip about how to get single spacing on returns in the visual editor, though--I'll remember that one.

   Thanks...still hoping someone out there might have an answer for captions...

   I'm looking for the answer also. Shift-enter or Control-enter does not work. Trying to add a name and title under a picture, then a new line to say something else. Frustrating. .
