Insert image issues WP 2.7.1 from gallery or url hangs

Hi

It seems like a few people are having this problem. I have switched themes, tried different browsers, cleared cache, It just hangs when inserting from the gallery, I also noticed that when I try from a url.. it checks to insure the url exists however, insert to post button is in a light color and light type as if it doesnt have permission, I can click on that but again nothing same as inserting from the gallery into a post.

I have worked around this issue by inserting html into the post .. I still would like to be able to use the word press insert

I have encountered this identical issue and have used the same work around as donmartelca. I, too, would like to figure out what’s happening so that I can use the WP insert.

Yep, same problem. I’ve uploaded the images with Dreamweaver and then used the image url within my website. That seems to work, but its a hell of a cumbersome way to get an image on a posting.

I’m having the same issue. I’ve done everything suggested in the sticky post about image problems to no avail.

Everything worked fine prior to me upgrading to 2.7.1

Oh god, look, the same issue yet again! Setup 3 different websites with identical configurations and one of them is giving me this BS. I’m so sick and tired of wordpress and trying to hunt down fixes. Searching google for a solution is about as effective at finding a solution as shoving used needles under my kneecaps then jumping on a trampoline. If anyone find’s a fix for this please post it here. If you’ve experienced this problem before and found a solution, PLEASE POST IT.

Did all of you try the browser uploader instead of the flash?

This is the original problem. Is this exactly the same problem you are having – hangs from gallery?

Each one of you post a url for an image in your gallery please if you are having the same problem as donmartelca Except for you w0rdpresssucks I suggest you find different blogging software so you will be happy.

My problem has NOTHING TO DO with the image uploading. it’s the acutal insertion of it. CLICKING THE INSERT IMAGE button display a nice friendly “PHP AND WORDPRESS SUCKS AND HAS CAUSED SOME SORT OF GLITCH IN THE SPACE/TIME CONTINUUM WHEREBY YOU WILL ULTIMATELY WANT TO COMMIT SUICIDE BECAUSE SOMETHING THIS FREAKING SIMPLE SHOULDNT BE SO DAMNED COMPLEX TO FIX”

I use a better blogging system. It’s runs on the .NET framework. It’s faster, easier, more modular, more robust. I’m simply trying to help others with their wordpress failures.

I have the same issue. When I click any of the media insert buttons, instead of opening a popup window like it used to, a whole new page opens. Then, there’s no way for the post insert to work because the associated window is gone!

It looks like Javascript just doesn’t latch onto the media insert buttons and so they open normally. I checked for javascript errors with the Firefox error console. Absolutely none.

Tried switching themes, disabling plugins. No dice.

I found what appears to be the cause. A javascript problem I’ve not been able to diagnose:

jQuery(“#categorychecklist”).wpList is not a function

Grabbed the wp-admin folder from wordpress.org and uploaded. No change. Disabled all plugins at once. Changed to default Kubrick theme. Cleared cache. No change.

Sorry for all the posts, but this is really troubling me. I’ll let it go for now and hope someone else has seen/solved the issue.

Eureka! For some reason, after running an automatic upgrade on the site, the wp-includes/js/wp-lists.js file wasn’t present. This meant that a JS error prevented the editor from opening the media window as a popup, and this broke the image insert function.

I uploaded the script that was missing.

Solved!
