I have WordPress installed on a dedicated box with 1GB of RAM and WordPress is using 700MB of it, maxing out the available RAM, then heading over to swap for ANOTHER 1GB and it still wanted more
The site is only at 10k uniques per day on average
I've tried the site on 2 different dedicated machines at 2 different hosts and both had RAM/Swap issues. The hosts think it MAY be something with WordPress and the Debian libraries. Whatever that means.
I even installed WP-Cache to try to resolve it and there was absolutely 0 effect
try 2 disable all your plugins , maybe a specific plugin is causing this issue .
As you look at top or ps, where's all the ram?
It isn't with WP... Have Apache and MySQL been properly configured and tuned?

chaaban: I completely disabled all plugins, even the wp defaults and it still did it. I even went as far as making the post loop the only calls to the database (links/categories are static)
HandySolo: I've got no idea. The server admin told me those stats. I've got a site that runs 80-90k uniques/day on that same server and it's only using ~200MB of RAM and server load is something like .3 so I think Apache/MySQL are good2go
