Google Authenticator
[resolved] Input my own secret (3 posts)

Hi, it would be great if there were an option for the user to input their own secret (I know some asked for this already, but I have different motivations). The reason why I find this feature needed is because I look over more than 20 sites (Probably many people does the same) So It would be neat that with just one code, one secret, you were able to have access to all your sites without having to have 20 different accounts on your Google authenticator account. I now this will reduce the strength of this plugin, but this is better than nothing.

    Thanks,

    Alex

You're right that would be bad security, and I would probably get blaimed the day something went wrong :-)

It is indeed possible to use the same Google Authenticator code with multiple blogs. Provided of course you are also the Server Admin and have access to a database tool such as phpMyAdmin.

The Description and Secret are stored in the usermeta table.

Manipulating the database directly can cause unpredictable results. Mess with this at your own risk. :)

Warning: Doing this weakens security somewhat. However...

The code cycles every 60 seconds and we cannot easily determine future codes. Is it really that big of a deal to have the same Google Authenticator for multiple blogs?
